The services offered by Barry Holland ensure personal attention to each client where Barry himself handles all of the major jobs.
His unique approach - taking the whole of the problem! Whether this is large numbers of routine transactions or the establishment of a major club or betting outlet against massive opposition from trade or neighbours.
Offering unrivalled experience, his success rate is as much down to his personality and humorous light touch when leading a tribunal. Preparation is key and you can be sure that he knows his law, his clients, their sites, the courts, the licensing authorities and how to win!
Barry Holland knows how to succeed having taken difficult cases personally and supervised the delegation of routine matters to a team of well-experienced associates both in-house and throughout the country.
Qualified as a solicitor and notary public for over 35 years, he has always worked in private practice, primarily as an advocate specialising in regulatory matters, principally liquor and betting and gaming licensing.
As a liquor-licensing specialist he has acted for various Whitbread brands for many years (e.g. Thresher, Pelican) as well as Majestic Wine Warehouses, Cellar Five, Brannigans, Chiquitos and The Trafford Centre. Barry has also represented many single operators and small groups. He ran the leading petrol station forecourt licensing and has acted for most of the major oil companies.
His major clients on the betting side are Coral Racing and Vernons Pools.
Barry Holland is the Chairman of the Food Law Group and he has wide experience in the food industry having acted for Safeway for 15 years prior to the Morrison takeover.
He previously practised on his own account before joining DWF in 1986 and then Elliott & Company in Manchester in 1991 where he remained a partner until 2006, leaving after the firm was taken over by Ricksons.
